History

Standard Steel Specialty Company ("SSS") was founded in 1925 as a spin off of several departments of the Standard Gauge Steel Company when it merged with the Union Drawn Steel Division of Republic Steel. Through the years, SSS has evolved into the premier manufacturers of gear racks, machine keys, woodruff keys and taper pins servicing the power transmission, automotive, aerospace, and numerous other industries with the highest level of quality. Our quality system has received ISO 9002 certification in a continuing effort to better serve our customers.

SSS is a company of approximately 100 highly skilled craftsmen housed in 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space equipped with the latest State-Of-The-Art CNC rack cutting, milling, grinding, and turning machinery. Because of our experienced labor team and our machining capabilities, SSS can meet all of your production volume no matter how large. SSS is committed to leading the industry with modern rack and key technology to better service our customer’s requirements.

Located in the surrounding hills of Pittsburgh, PA, we are able to quickly service all the major industrial areas of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and abroad.
